Getting started
How do I add photos?
Tap Choose Photos, or the + button at the top left of any tab. You can pick up to 50 at a time, and they're shared across Frame, Collage and Sheet.
How do I save or share?
Tap the share button at the top right. You can save to Photos or share, and choose JPEG, HEIC or PNG. On the Frame tab you can also save every photo in your roll at once.
How do I compare with the original?
Touch and hold the photo on the Frame tab. Let go to see the edit again. Swipe left or right to move between photos.
Edges and borders
What's the difference between Shuffle and Random?
Shuffle makes a new variation of the edge you're using. Random switches to a different style entirely.
How do I keep an edge I like?
Tap Save under the photo. Saved frames keep their exact variation, roughness and thickness, and show up in the edge strip and the Edges tab.
Can I use my own film edge scans?
Yes. In the Edges tab, scroll to Your Scans and import from Photos or Files. Printform figures out which way round the scan is, finds the window, and stretches the edges to fit any photo.
How do I make the edge the same color as the border?
On the Border tool, set Edge Color to Match Border. The edge then shapes the photo without a visible line.
Grain and look
The grain looks subtle in the preview. Is it working?
Real film grain is small compared to a full photo, so it's subtle when a photo is shrunk to fit your screen. The 100% view at the top of the Look tool shows exactly what the export looks like up close.
Why did my grain change on another tab?
The Look (grain, dust, sharpening and glow) is shared by Frame, Collage and Sheet, so a change on one carries to the others. Tap Reset Look to go back to the defaults.
How do I reset a slider?
Double-tap the slider or its label.
Date stamp and contact sheets
Where does the date stamp's date come from?
It uses the day each photo was taken. If a photo has no date, it uses today. Choose Custom to set any date.
Can I post a contact sheet as a 4:5 or a story?
Yes. On the Sheet tool, pick a Canvas ratio. The sheet is centered on paper at that size, and the paper color fills the extra space.
How many photos fit on a contact sheet?
A 35mm sheet holds 36 frames and a 120 sheet holds 12. The last strip is cut to length when a roll doesn't fill it.
Display
Can I use light mode?
Printform follows your iPhone's setting. To choose Light or Dark for the app only, open the Edges tab and tap the appearance button at the top right.
